Welcome to the lesser-known Himalayas! Hidden and cut off from all for most of the year, the valleys of Kinnaur and Spiti emerge from their cloak of snow only for a few months. And what a world they reveal. About 176 kms from Shimla, you journey into the inner Himalays starts from Sarahan. A beautiful they village surrounded by magnificient snow peaks and apple orchards this was the ancient capital of Rampur. Bushair, one of the princely states in the Shimla hills. An ideal starting point for treks into the higher Himalayas, Sarahan is also known for it s centuries old Bhimakali Temple.

Moving on from Sarahan, at a distance of 230 kms from Shimla we reach Sangla, a picturesque little village with a small population, famous for its trout fishing possibilities. Situated on a slope with houses rising one above the other, and the gigantic Kinner-Kailash Peak towering from behind, Sangla is also famous for the impressive and historical Kamru Fort which has now been dedicated to the Kamakshi Temple.

At a height of 2,700m the Banjara Camp - Sangla, is surrounded by towering mountains on all sides and is set on the banks of the Baspa River that surges through the valley. Long walk to discover the amazing fauna and flora of the valley, treks to view snow covered Himalayan peaks and along rivers, angling for trout, experiencing some of the local culture and traditions, para-gliding and river crossing are only some of the experience that will etch themselves in your memory

The Camp is an ideal setting for total relaxation with luxurious Swiss-style tents that hve attached bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and evening bonfires that keep the chill away. Plus, you have the option of going on some amazing Jeep Safaris to keep the adrenaline going!

Sangla has some memorable Places and sights to offer, these include:

Chitkul - The last village on the old Hindustan-Tibet trade route.

Sangla Meadows - Fully day's walk to the green postures.

Rakcham - Beautiful 4 hour walk along the Baspa River to Rokcham village.

Baspa River- Flows along the valley - Great for trout fishing.

Batseri Village- Just across the camp, Great hill architecture. The local 'devta' temple is must see.

Once you've explored the beautiful Sangla Village and its surrounds, we move deeper, into the Himalayas…
